“Equal rights,
Equal opportunities”
Every
people have their rights and these rights should be equal. We should also be
treated similarly and there should not be discrimination. Simply, we should
have an equal rights and equal opportunities.
The aim
according to this often “complex and contested concept” is that important jobs
should go to those “most qualified”, a person most likely to perform ably in a
given task and not go to persons for arbitrary or irrelevant reasons, such as
circumstance of birth, upbringing, friendship ties to whoever in power, sex,
religion, and many more. Chances for advancement should be open to everybody
interested such that they have an equal chance to complete within the framework
of goals and the structure of rules established. This is only one example of unequal
treatment and unequal rights of people. There are more problems regarding
discrimination that we should remove as soon as possible.
The call
for equal rights is a persuasive one. All people are created in the image of
God and no person and certainly not a whole category of people should be
subjected to unjust and unequal treatment.
